Cannabis is among the most widely used psychoactive substances in the world. The United Nations estimates an annual global prevalence rate of between 2.6% and 5% in adult populations between the ages of 15 and 64 years (between 119 million and 224 million estimated users). Known also by its more popular street name of marijuana, the drug is produced from the Cannabis sativa or the Cannabis indica plant.
