Sex therapy is an integrative clinical approach developed to overcome sexual disorders. It was introduced in the 1970s by William Masters and Virginia Johnson as a behavioral approach that aggregates a set of techniques designed to overcome sex-related performance anxiety and solve specific sexual difficulties. Even though there have been updates and sex therapy has become an integrative clinical approach, the basic principles and stages of sex therapy (assessment, formulation, specific techniques, and homework assignments) remain unchanged. Its goal is to help individuals and couples enhance and feel comfortable with their sexual life.
