Premature ejaculation (PE) is a common male sexual dysfunction. However, the literature evidence shows that this dysfunction is often underestimated and underdiagnosed. This gap between the real incidence and the diagnosis is likely due to various factors, including the difficulty of defining this condition as a symptom or as a specific clinical category. In addition, doubts persist regarding the adoption of a unified PE definition and, hence, regarding the variables that every clinician has to consider to effectively comprehend if a patient is affected by PE.
