Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

Mindfulness based stress reduction (MBSR) is a program that applies commonly understood tenets of mindfulness to help people engage more effectively with everyday stressors. The definition of mindfulness endorsed by the developers of MBSR (Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues) involves nonjudgmental awareness of immediate experiences. It is an intentional process of becoming aware of and accepting the present moment, often involving a target focus of somatic sensations, emotions, and/or thoughts. This approach may contradict or challenge ordinary experiences in everyday life.
