A simple and quick way to find out whether someone is experiencing symptoms of a mental health disorder is to administer a mental health screening questionnaire. Mental health screening questionnaires aim to measure symptoms of mental health disorders, such as depression. The questionnaires vary in length from 1 question to 60 or more questions. Questionnaires can be conducted face-to-face with a health professional or through self-report via paper and pencil, by telephone, or online. Importantly, screening can be conducted easily and quickly without the interference of a health professional, but it provides only an indication of a mental health disorder.
