Social factors in the context of gender dysphoria refers to the social lives of transgender people; social evolutions in visibility, activism, and politics regarding transgender people; societal attitudes toward transgender people; and the general quality of life of transgender people. Evidence shows that social factors such as the increased visibility of transgender people in the media since the start of the 21st century, the availability of information on the Internet, as well as political and legal developments all have contributed to the increase of individuals seeking transgender-related health care, as well as to the availability and organization of medical practice and procedures.
