Effective Discipline

The implementation of discipline procedures provides structure for a child to effectively and positively function in society. When consistent limits are placed on children’s behavior, the children learn to reflect on and regulate their behavior, thereby allowing them to lead more successful and happy lives. Parents use a number of methods to discipline their children in an attempt to reduce or eliminate a child’s undesirable behavior. It is important that effective discipline procedures be used to positively shape a child rather than forcing steadfast compliance.
