Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy

Cognitive behavioral analysis system of psychotherapy (CBASP) is a psychotherapy model designed specifically to treat the patient who is chronically depressed, or as per the diagnostic terms of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5), published by the American Psychiatric Association in 2013, it is labeled persistent depressive disorder (PDD). CBASP is the only therapy model designed specifically to treat this type of patient. This entry describes the patient with PDD and then shows how CBASP addresses the unique problems of the patient.
