Born in Zanzibar, Tanzania, Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani is alleged to be a member of the Al Qaeda network. He is said to have been directly involved in the 1998 attacks on the U.S. embassies in Nairobi, Kenya, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is accused of procuring the materials for and assembling the truck bomb that devastated the embassy in Dar es Salaam. The FBI has placed him on its “most wanted terrorists” list.
