Since 1944, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (NCADD) has been a leader in the effort to raise public awareness of the disease of alcoholism and drug dependence, and support for prevention, as well for effective and accessible treatment. As the oldest advocacy organization in the country dedicated to addressing alcoholism and drug dependence, NCADD works at the national level on public awareness and policy issues related to barriers in education, prevention, and treatment for individuals and families affected by alcoholism and drug dependence. NCADD's national network of affiliates work on the state and local levels to provide community-based information and referral, education, prevention, training, intervention, treatment, recovery support services, and policy and advocacy services.
