THERE IS MUCH controversy today about whether stem cell research must be confined to adult stem cells only and whether ethically, adult stem cells are preferred over the embryonic stem cells. Different groups are concerned about the topic of stem cell research with regard to the viability, survival, and protection of the embryo; the cloning issue; federal funding; and the consent of donor. Cloning is also opposed by religious organizations as well.

In Florida, stem cell research has gained an adequate amount of public attention through the media and has been the subject of public meetings by government agencies.
