Oregon Health & Science University

THE OREGON HEALTH & Science University (OHSU) is a public university dedicated to healthcare and science research; most OHSU students are enrolled in graduate or professional degree programs or are engaged in postdoctoral studies. OHSU was formed in 1974 by combining the state dentistry, medicine, and nursing programs, and it adopted its current name in 2001 when it merged with the Oregon Graduate Institute of Science and Technology in Hillsboro, located 20 minutes from Portland. The main OHSU campus is in Portland, as are three hospitals affiliated with OHSU: the Oregon Health and Science University Hospital, the Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and the Portland Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
