Athlete burnout is a negative experiential syndrome. The most widely employed description of the syndrome has come from the work of Dr. Tom Raedeke. He has demonstrated that the athlete burnout syndrome is characterized by an enduring experience of three key symptoms: (1) emotional and physical exhaustion, (2) sport devaluation, and (3) reduced accomplishment.
