Acromioclavicular (AC) Joint, Separation of

Injury to the acromioclavicular (AC) joint is relatively common during sports participation. Men in their 20s are the most prone to sustaining an AC joint injury. Sports in which athletes are most at risk for an injury to the AC joint include hockey, football, rugby, and soccer, although any contact sport has an increased risk for such an injury.
