Athlete's Nodules

Athlete's nodules is a term that refers to a broad category of nonnancerous skin conditions affecting athletes that occur in areas of high friction or repetitive trauma. The nodules represent overgrowth of a skin component called collagen and are often referred to as collagenomas. Diagnosis is typically uncomplicated. Treatment includes both medical and surgical options. Athlete's nodules are prevented by using properly fitted and padded athletic equipment at all times.
