Parasitic skin infestations are infections of the skin caused by small organisms that require human hosts for a portion of their life cycle. These skin infections, including lice and scabies, rarely affect athletes when compared with viral or bacterial infections. Though these infestations are rare, any of them may affect an athlete's ability to participate in practice or competition.
