With the American College of Sports Medicine's (ACSM's) recent release of the “Exercise Is Medicine” campaign, the role of exercise in health has been highlighted. The question now becomes “How should people exercise?” The answer is in the exercise prescription. An exercise prescription is a medical recommendation of exercise, including aerobic activity, resistance training, and stretching, for the purpose of achieving better health or an additional desired fitness benefit.
