Canada is the second-largest country in the world, with an area of 3,854,085 square miles (9,984,670 square kilometers). It is situated in North America between the Pacific Ocean to the west, the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Arctic Ocean to the north—along with Greenland to the northeast—and the United States to the south. Canada shares the world's longest international boundary with the United States, at 5,525 miles (8,891 kilometers). Statistics Canada estimated Canada's total population in 2011 at 34,349,200, of whom only about 17 percent fall under 15 years of age, 69 percent fall between the ages of 15 to 64 years old, and the remaining 13 percent are age 65 years and older. Canada is one of the wealthiest countries in the world.
