Technology in the Classroom

Technology in the classroom could theoretically be traced back to the emergence of early tools, (e.g., chalk and tablets). However, technology use in the classroom usually starts with educational film in the early 20th century. As technology in the business and science fields has grown, opportunities for the classroom have risen dramatically. Over the course of the last 60 years, technology in the classroom has transformed from reel and film projectors to interactive whiteboards and pencil and paper to blogs and wikis. As mobile technologies and wireless connections [Page 785]proliferate, integrated scholarship combining both school and authentic settings has led to blended learning with virtual tools and social networks.
