Skipping Grades

Skipping a grade is a form of acceleration for students who are academically advanced. Allowing students to participate in classes that are traditionally taught to older students provides the appropriate educational experience by matching the level of the curriculum with the motivation and readiness of the student. It is typically the most effective, least costly method of meeting the educational needs of highly advanced students. Early kindergarten and first grade entry are two forms of grade skipping that raise the least concerns to both children and teachers from a developmental perspective.
