Service Learning
Service learning is a pedagogy that includes meeting a genuine community need while enhancing critical thinking skills. It differs from other courses in which students are required to volunteer by incorporating reflection on service in light of course readings. This often includes structured or unstructured journal assignments, reflective essays, or in-class reflection. Through these activities students interpret their service for greater understanding much like they would interpret a text.
Rationale for Service Learning
