Panama

Panama is one of six countries comprising Central America. The Republic of Panama, situated on the Isthmus of Panama, has an area of 29,208 square miles (78,200 square kilometers) and is bordered on the north by Costa Rica and on the south by Colombia. The eastern coastline lies on the Caribbean and Atlantic Ocean, and the Pacific Ocean spans the western coastline. In 2005 the United Nations estimated the population at 3,232,000, with approximately 6 percent over 65 years of age and 29 percent under 15 years of age.
