Nigeria shares borders with four countries and the Gulf of Guinea. It has a total land area the size of California, Arizona, and Nevada combined. The 2010 World Atlas reports it as the most populous country in the African continent and eighth in the world, with over 158 million people. This multicultural country records over 500 indigenous languages and 250 ethnic groups. The three main ethnic groups are Yoruba, Hausa, and Igbo.
