Situated in north Africa, the Kingdom of Morocco is 172,413 square miles (446,550 square kilometers) with a population of approximately 35 million inhabitants. The government structure is a constitutional monarchy, with legislative, judicial, and executive branches. In 2002, Morocco's primary trading partner was the European Union, which accounted for 67 percent of its imports and 55 percent of its exports. The international use of the English language in business and diplomacy has increased English language use for the European Union and, in turn, for Morocco. In 2004, the United States and Morocco signed the Morocco-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, thereby reducing most customs duties of consumer and manufactured goods.
