Maryland is a moderate state, diverse in people and geography, with a strong investment in education. It is located in the midatlantic region, bordering Washington, D.C., Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The state stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Allegheny Mountains. The capital is Annapolis.
