Kenya

Kenya is a former British colony, with an educational history marked by the continuous struggle for Free Primary Education (FPE). This is impacted by its many ethnic groups and languages and the physical environment of the region. The ongoing HIV/AIDS epidemic and other public health issues weigh heavily on this country. FPE has been a major focus of Kenyan politics since independence. The most recent reforms, of 2003, have had significant success, and the new constitution of 2010 includes reforms in terms of gender equality, ethnic and religious minorities, and children with disabilities.
