Honduras

Honduras was a Spanish colony until 1821, when it gained independence from Spain. It is located in Central America and has borders with Guatemala and El Salvador to the west and Nicaragua to the south. Honduras is approximately the size of Tennessee, with an area of 43,243 square miles (112,090 square kilometers). According to the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), its estimated population is 8.1 million. Its population is mainly mestizos around 90 percent, a mix of Spanish and Amerindian, the rest is composed of native Indians, blacks, and whites. The economy of Honduras is “diversified” and includes not only agricultural products, but also manufacturing.
