Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., leader of the largest civil rights movement in the United States, was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to the Reverend Martin Luther King, Sr., and Alberta Williams King on January 15, 1929. His grandfather, the Reverend Adam Daniel Williams, was the first of three men in the King family to serve as pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.
