Anthony Grove Hillerman (1925–2008), better known as Tony Hillerman, was a leading American crime fiction writer. He is best known for his Navajo Tribal Police mystery novels. Hillerman was a second-generation German American born on May 27, 1925, in Sacred Heart, Oklahoma, a rural town of 50 people.
