Albert DeSalvo, the self-professed Boston Strangler, was born on September 3, 1931, to Charlotte and Frank DeSalvo. Albert's father was an abusive alcoholic who once sold Albert and two of his sisters into slavery to a Maine farmer. The children remained captive for months before returning home. Frank DeSalvo taught Albert to steal at a young age and frequently brought prostitutes into their home.
