Calvin Coolidge, Jr., (1872–1933) was the 30th president of the United States (1923–29). He held various local, state, and federal political posts prior to becoming president. John Calvin Coolidge was born in Plymouth Notch, Vermont. He was the elder of two children of John Calvin Coolidge, Sr., and Victoria Josephine Moor. He graduated from Black River Academy in 1890, attended Amherst College, and graduated cum laude in 1895.
