Resource Rooms

Since 1975, the Resource Room has been an alternative instructional placement for students who are eligible to receive special education services. A less restrictive alternative to self-contained classrooms, the Resource Room option allows the student to spend the majority of the day with grade-level peers. The student comes to the Resource Room for no more than a few hours each week. In the Resource Room, teaching methods geared to students with learning differences are employed. It is not a study hall or a place for review. Rather, Resource Room instruction provides an alternative to the general curriculum in specific academic areas (such as reading or arithmetic), taught by trained special education teachers, to meet the needs of the individual student.
