World Resources Institute (WRI)

The World Resources Institute (WRI), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C., focuses on creating sustainable solutions for protecting and enhancing the natural environment. Founded in 1982 by James Gustave Speth with a $15 million grant from The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, WRI is dedicated to results-oriented solutions to long-term global issues of sustainability and human well-being. WRI’s mission remains “to move human society to live in ways that protect Earth’s environment and its capacity to provide for the needs and aspirations of current and future generations.”
