The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) is a professional trade organization that represents organizations that are licensed to participate in the securities industry. It was formed in 2006 through the merger of the Securities Industry Association and the Bond Market Association. The association’s membership is vast and includes securities entities such as brokers, dealers, exchanges, banks, investment firms, investment counselors, mutual funds, and many others that are involved in securities transactions. It has nearly 1 million employees and serves clients with more than $18.5 trillion in assets who manage more than $67 trillion in assets for individual and institutional clients including mutual funds and retirement plans.
