Rule of Law Index (World Justice Project)

The World Justice Project’s (WJP) Rule of Law Index provides data on how the rule of law is experienced by the general public in more than 100 countries around the globe. The WJP Rule of Law Index 2016 is based on data from more than 110,000 households and 2,700 expert surveys from 113 countries and jurisdictions and measures how the rule of law is experienced in practical, routine situations by ordinary people around the world.

The performance of this index is assessed using 44 indicators across 8 categories, each of which is ranked globally and against regional and income peers: Constraints on Government Powers, Absence of Corruption, Open Government, Fundamental Rights, Order and Security, Regulatory Enforcement, Civil Justice, and Criminal Justice.
