Monsanto

Monsanto, established in 1901 as a chemical company, is one of the largest global biotechnology companies operating in the agricultural input market. The company’s primary business is to develop, produce, and distribute agricultural products, such as conventional and genetically modified seeds, biotechnology trait products, and herbicides that support farmers around the world in the production of safe, healthy, and affordable foods for consumers and feeds for animals. Publicly traded on the stock exchange and headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, the company had more than 22,000 employees, as of the end of 2015, in more than 400 facilities (including manufacturing plants, seed production facilities, and research and learning centers) across 66 countries.
