Manifesto for a Global Economic Ethic
Promulgated in 2009, the Manifesto for a Global Economic Ethic calls on all economic agents to respect the internationally accepted rules of conduct in economic life, to defend them and to work together, within the framework of their sphere of influence, for their realization. It is based on the Declaration Toward a Global Ethic (1993), focuses on business and the economy from the perspective of individual decision making and action, is reinforced by the global financial crisis (2007–2008), and recalls and supports the global guidelines of human rights and responsibilities proclaimed by the United Nations in 1948, the United Nations Global Compact (since 2000), the Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work of the International Labour Organization, the Rio Declaration on Environment and Development, and the ...
