Foxconn Technology Group

Foxconn Technology Group is an electronics contract manufacturing company headquartered in Taiwan. Its official name is Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. Ltd. The company was founded in 1974 to make electrical connectors for the Atari 2600. By 1988, Foxconn had a manufacturing plant in Shenzhen, Guangdon, in mainland China as well in other parts of Asia, Brazil, Europe, and Mexico. Foxconn entered into the telecommunications fields with an acquisition of Asia Pacific Telecom in 2014. In 2016, Foxconn became a majority shareholder of Sharp Corporation. In 2012, Foxconn was the world’s 10th largest employer with more than 1.2 million employees on its payroll. It is China’s largest private employer and largest exporter.
