Facebook and Privacy
Facebook is more than its website address, www.Facebook.com; Facebook represents a new way of viewing the world, relationships, and data. Facebook is a virtual institution that challenges traditional norms and modes of communication. Since its inception, Facebook has challenged privacy. Today the challenges can be grouped into three main categories: (1) what is shared, (2) what users control, and (3) Facebook’s role in protecting users from themselves.
History
Facebook began as a vehicle to connect college students. Facebook was launched on February 4, 2004, by founder Mark Zuckerberg, originally as a service limited to the students of Harvard College.
