Drone Technology

Drone is the commonly used term for an Unmanned Aviation System. A drone is an aircraft without a human pilot on board. Drones are operated by remote control by a pilot or are autonomous, controlled by onboard computers. Drones have military, commercial, and hobbyist applications.

Military drones have been deployed since the Vietnam War. In 2010, a consumer drone called the Parrot was introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Drones have been used for aerial photography, for package delivery, and as weapon platforms. Drones are used for aerial photography in construction and real estate, among other industries, and by environmental conservation programs.
