Corporate political advocacy addresses a firm’s participation in the formulation of public policy at various levels of government. As the regulatory environment has become more intense and complex and as other changes have taken place in society, firms have had little choice but to become more politically active. Attempts by firms to influence government are a major and accepted part of the public policy process in the United States. The U.S. political system is driven by the fervent participation of interest groups striving to achieve their own objectives.
