Harding, Warren G. (1865–1923)

WARREN GAMALIEL HARDING, 29th president of the United States, was born on November 2, 1865, in Corsica, Ohio, now known as Blooming Grove, Ohio. His father was a farmer and a doctor, while his mother dedicated herself to the eight children, of which Harding was the oldest. During his childhood, Harding helped out on the family's farm, worked in a local sawmill making brooms, and drove a team of horses for the Toledo and Ohio Railroad Company. In addition, he worked as an apprentice at a local newspaper, the Caledonia Argus.
