Political Prisoners

Political prisoners is a term used to refer to individuals who are imprisoned or otherwise held against their will because their ideas or public personae are considered by a government to present a threat to the nation or opposition to the current regime. Frequently, incarceration of political prisoners takes place with no recourse to legal or judicial processes. At other times, a legal system may be used to arrest and try political prisoners by implementing false criminal charges and evidence to cover up the politically motivated nature of the imprisonment.
