Jamieson, Kathleen Hall (1946—)

Kathleen Hall Jamieson is a communication scholar and one of the nation's leading experts on political advertising and presidential campaigns. Her academic career started with a focus on papal rhetoric but shifted over the years; she has made many research contributions to the areas of presidential discourse, political argumentation, media framing, gender and sexism, and adolescent mental health. She is author and coauthor of 15 books and more than 90 articles. From 1989 to 1993, Jamieson served as dean of the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania, where she is currently the Elizabeth Ware Packard Professor of Communication and the Walter and Leonore Annenberg Director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center.
