Latina Mami is an organization created by and for working-class Latina mothers based in the Austin, Texas, area. This collective is designed to provide social support services for working-class Latina mothers who have historically been among the most disenfranchised, marginalized groups of women in the United States.

This organization is one of a very small number of community-based maternal support groups in the United States designed entirely by and for working-class mothers of color and their children.

Response to Lack of Support

Founded in 2000 by Gloria Pérez-Walker, Latina Mami strives to serve as a major resource network for Latina mothers by running projects that have included a babysitting cooperative, support groups, and bilingual newsletters on parenting written by Latina mothers.
