Chewing Gum

In 2005, chewing gum became the number one snack in America. Today, more than 50% of Americans chew gum, consuming about 1.8 lb (1 lb = 0.45 kg) of gum per capita each year. This translates to about 320 sticks of gum per person, with annual U.S. chewing gum sales topping $3 billion. Over the years, there have been many anecdotal accounts from people who say they chew gum not only for flavor and as a pleasurable activity but for wellness and lifestyle benefits. Increasingly, consumers who seek small changes that can make a difference in their personal health and wellness regimes are choosing to chew gum.
