Chewing Gum
In 2005, chewing gum became the number one snack in America. Today, more than 50% of Americans chew gum, consuming about 1.8 lb (1 lb = 0.45 kg) of gum per capita each year. This translates to about 320 sticks of gum per person, with annual U.S. chewing gum sales topping $3 billion.
