Low-carbohydrate weight loss diets (low-carb) have been controversial. Several versions of a low-carb diet have existed for more than 50 years. Examples include the Air Force Diet, The Drinking Man's Diet, the Stillman Diet, and the original version of the Atkins diet. The most recent wave of interest in low-carb diets has included Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, the Zone diet, and the South Beach diet, among several others.
