Health
The field of health law, or health care law, encompasses a wide variety of legal concerns and categories of law. The term health law is used most commonly today in the United States and Europe and includes the study of the law and legal institutions that govern certain relationships. First, it covers the relationships among patients and health care professionals, such as physicians or nurses, and institutional providers, such as hospitals or nursing homes. Second, it includes relationships of health care professionals among themselves and with institutional providers. Third, it deals with relationships between professionals and providers, on one hand, and payers (for example, health insurers or government programs) on the other.
