Global Greens Charter

The Global Greens Charter was signed by 800 delegates of global green parties from 72 countries in April 2001, in Canberra, Australia, at the founding of the Global Greens. An expansion of earlier joint green party statements drafted at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and among regional affiliations of green parties, the charter emphasized the commonalities of dozens of political parties.

Unlike most political parties, greens—in any country—are by definition concerned with global issues, not simply domestic matters or the relationship of their country with the rest of the world.
