Karen J. Warren was a professor of philosophy at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, until her retirement in 2010. She is best known for her contributions to feminist philosophy and environmental ethics, especially ecofeminism. She has taught philosophy in a variety of organizations outside the university, notably in schools.

Warren's teaching interests include critical thinking, ethics, social and political philosophy, peace studies, the history of women philosophers, and philosophy for children. Warren has described herself as a “street philosopher” and a “public philosopher” because of her commitment to bringing philosophy to diverse populations, especially groups to whom philosophy is not normally available.
